Our CAO PREP Anatomy Course is perfect for if you don’t have a lot of health experience or none at all. This short, intense course gives you a focused and supportive introduction to basic anatomy, making sure you are completely ready for Year 1 of the CAO Osteopathy program and can start your studies with confidence.
All osteopathy courses use the anatomical terms, concepts, and learning methods taught in the PREP Anatomy Course. The online course focuses on practical understanding and helps students get ready for the full program by building clarity, confidence, and academic readiness.
This course is ideal for people who want to change careers, adults learners, and people who don’t have a traditional health sciences background and anatomy course prerequisites. It helps students go from being curious to being competent. By the end of the PREP Anatomy Course, students start Year 1 with a strong understanding of anatomy and the confidence to fully participate in CAO’s demanding and immersive training.
Before starting the CAO Osteopathy program, students need to be ready. The PREP Anatomy Course is meant to make sure that all new students have a sturdy foundation.

Who is eligible to take PREP?
The CAO PREP course gives students who have not studied anatomy previously, a structured REVIEW of basic anatomy and physiology. It costs $500 to take this course.
The CAO PREP course is a full review for applicants who have already studied anatomy. It goes over important ideas and terms before the start of Year 1. The CAO PREP course is a free review for students who meet the anatomy requirements.
How is the course taught?
- The CAO PREP course lasts for 7 weeks and includes 5 weeks of online lectures.
- 1 week of online review
- One final exam in person
Parts of the Course
- The CAO PREP course has a full workbook with video lectures for each unit.
- Weekly live Zoom sessions (90 minutes) with a teacher to answer questions and help students understand better
- Practice quizzes for each unit are available online.
- A final in-person test, with a passing grade of 70% (you can take it again if you need to).
What to Expect and What to Learn in the Course
The course teaches the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system, including muscles, bones, ligaments, origins, and insertions. It also covers basic physiology and osteopathic ideas. The CAO also monitors students’ professionalism, including attendance, communication, and behavior. Such behavior is in line with what the full osteopathy program expects.
Recordings of Live Lectures
Until the final exam, all live Zoom question sessions are recorded and can be found in the Student Portal. You can listen to recordings, but it’s highly recommended that you go to the live weekly sessions. These classes bring the material to life and let you interact directly with the faculty.
